Sneaking in another episode before the weekend. This one features a performance by Whitesand/Badlands, and song selections by our engineer John Miller. You can find out more about the studio at: http://www.nicolletparkrecording.com/
The studio is a lot like John: affordable, warm, convenient, makes you want to dance... and so much more...
Thanks again to the band and as always John. HMH made the photos look nice.

This episode features Rags & Iron who performed and picked the musical selections at the beginning and end of the program.
Here are the songs they performed:
1) The Darkest Hour
2) Trouble
3) Drifting Snow
Hope you like it!
If you are interested, here is some more information about them and the projects they are involved in:
Rags and Iron are also members of the Unseen Ghost Brigade! This spring and summer the ensemble of The Unseen Ghost Brigade are building a great raft called home and creating a historically-based street theater/circus performance entitled: 'Renegade Phantasms or The Shadow Cast Along the Banks of The Mississippi'. A originally devised performance incorporating music, puppetry, clowning, acrobatics and more. This coming June we will float them both two-thousand miles south down The Great Mississippi River from Minneapolis to New Orleans to share our art with free performances in the towns and cities and riverbanks along the way. We hope to engage the communities we visit with the spirit and power of communal joy and to raise consciousness about the intricate relationship between industry, nature and human happiness.

For this second episode we were very privileged to have Michael Yonkers come into the studio. Best known for his 1969 album Microminiature Love, reissued on CD by Sub Pop in 2003, Yonkers is a Twin Cities underground music legend. Excavations of his early material are ongoing, but what blows our minds here at TEVS is that despite chronic health problems, the most prolific and creatively diverse period of his career is happening now.
Yonkers writes and records music constantly, some of which is slated for release on various labels, and much more of which will probably never be heard by more than a select few. For this session, Yonkers brought in his four favorite outtakes from the forthcoming album Circling the Drain. Two remain untouched, and the two others received guitar and/or vocal overdubs.
Resident Yonkers superfan Ezra, who conducted an extensive interview with the man for TEVS #4, also brought in some of his favorite recent Yonkers material, and, along with recording engineer John Miller, asked a few more questions.
